Ulysses comes with built-in spell-check and auto-correction features. However, these features can sometimes be distracting, especially during the drafting phase. Here’s how to manage auto-correction both within Ulysses and system-wide.
In Ulysses
On Mac
- Navigate to the menu bar at the top of your screen.
- Select Edit › Spelling and Grammar.
- Uncheck Correct Spelling Automatically.
On iOS
- Go to the editor.
- Tap on the circled ellipsis in the top right corner.
- Select Editor Settings.
- Tap on Substitutions.
- Turn off Auto-Correction.
This will turn off all automatic spelling corrections within Ulysses. If you’d like more specific control, you can customize these settings at the system level.
System-wide
On Mac
- Open System Settings.
- Select Keyboard.
- Look for the section “Text Input” and click Edit… next to it. Here, you can disable features like Auto-Capitalization and Auto-Correction.
On iOS
- Open Settings.
- Go to General › Keyboards. Here, you can disable features like Auto-Capitalization and Auto-Correction.
If you turn off the option “Capitalize Words Automatically” in System Settings, auto-correction will still work in Ulysses if it’s enabled in the app’s settings.
