With Ulysses' customizable toolbar, you can arrange the toolbar actions you use most often so they are always close at hand.
Please be aware that this option is currently only available on Mac.
Default Toolbar
The default toolbar provides quick access to the following actions (from left to right):
In the library:
- Add Group: Create a new group.
- Show/Hide Sidebar: Open or close the library and sheet list.
In the sheet list:
- Filter in Group: Search and filter the selected group(s).
- New Sheet: Create a new sheet.
In the editor:
- Back and Forward: Move between your recent used sheets.
- Open Quickly: Quickly find and open sheets, groups, or projects.
- Writing Tools/Siri AI: Open the Writing Tools/Siri AI panel, if available on your device.
- Strong, Emphasis, Link, and Paragraph: Format the text in the editor.
- Export: Open the export preview to export the current sheet.
- Publish: Publish the current sheet to Wordpress, Medium, Ghost or Micro.blog.
- Dashboard: Open the dashboard to access your sheet's statistics, keywords, grammar and style check and more.
Let's Customize Your Toolbar
Here's how to arrange the actions on the Mac toolbar to create a workspace that suits your needs.
Right-click the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar. Alternatively, you can select this option in the View menu.
This will open the customization panel with various options such as:
- Editor Fullscreen
- Markup like Code, Highlight, Redact, Comment, Annotation, Image, and Footnote
- Editor Zoom (Smaller/Bigger)
- Typewriter Mode settings like Line Marker, Highlight, Fixed Scrolling
- Find in Sheet
- Previous Sheet/Next Sheet
- Suggestions
To add an action, just drag it from the customization panel to your preferred position in the toolbar.
If you want to remove an action, drag it from the toolbar back to the customization panel. You can also easily restore the default toolbar by dragging it from the bottom of the panel into the toolbar
In the customization panel, you can also select whether your toolbar should show the Icon and Name, Icon Only, or Text Only.
Once you are set, click Done to apply the changes.
To rearrange actions directly in the toolbar, hold the Command key (⌘), then drag an action to your preferred position.
